Ernie Reiter, P. Eng

President Web Gear Services ltd.

 

Ernie is a Professional Engineer (Ontario) who received his BASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1985. He has worked for over 30 years in the plastic automotive products industry. Of which, 20 of those years were focused on plastic gear design and production.

​

Ernie established Web Gear Services Ltd. as a full-time gear consultant in 2002. He is a published author in the gearing industry with particular focus on double flank inspection and face gear design. 

 

Ernie is currently the only AGMA consulting member specializing in plastic and powder metal gearing for use in mass produced gear box applications. He has been actively involved in writing standards for the North American Gearing Industry through his involvement with several AGMA committees including: 

Vice Chairman of AGMA Plastics Gearing Committee

Vice Chairman of AGMA Powder Metal Gearing Committee

Member of AGMA Fine Pitch Gearing Committee

Member of AGMA Gear Accuracy Committee

Member of AGMA Worm Gearing Committee

Member of AGMA Helical Gear Rating Committee

 

In 2003, Ernie received the AGMA Technical Division Executive Committee Award for his outstanding contributions to the art of gear design and utilization. 

 

Mentored by: Irving Laskin, P.E. (Deceased) 

Irving was the winner of the AGMA lifetime achievement award in 2008 for his commitment to the Plastics and Powder Metal Gearing Industry in North America. He was a giant in the industry where his passion drove him to focus on sharing knowledge not only with myself, but with countless individuals. His impact on my gearing education is never ending and I am honored to follow in his footsteps. ER 2014
